Fortune Weight shows fragments of the site for a series of ritual/game-like procedures – ‘aunts’ sitting around a mini teapot in a pavilion on the mountain, chatting about eternal blessings and sutras of financial success while performing a simulation/game to manipulate a hurricane. The work takes elements from the rural religious practices in the director’s hometown and generates an absurd play, where the ideas of hope, well-being and the connection between individuals and 'a greater unknown' morph into systems of currency circulation, risk assessment, and economic speculations.
